Friends and family know me as the ‘wine and cheese girl’….

Last month Broadsheet published the article “We’ve found Sydney’s most epic antipasto boards”. I had countless friends tag, mention and send me the article saying ‘Jo, this article is for you’.

Not mentioned in Broadsheet’s article (but on the top of my antipasto’s to try in Sydney list) was Chester White Diner.

Chester White has nailed it with all the essentials – think quaffable wine and mouth-watering meats with those low-key vibes I love to kick back in and relax for hours whilst chatting to my favourites.

 

 

Walking in we were greeted by Stu, one of the friendly owners. We took a seat up at the bar on some very cool vintage red stools looking onto hooks and hooks of cured meats lining the wall – creating the setting for easily the prettiest butchery I’ve ever seen (vegetarians best not look).

Ordering a glass of rosé, my Friday drinks were underway. A girl with a rosé in hand wearing a pair of beige leather shorts and her favourite stiletto boots on a Friday afternoon is always going to have a great weekend.

 

 

Cured meats are one of their specialties. Ask them what is good and they’ll pull it off the hook and cut it right in front of you. We chose the Speck and Truffle Salami.

 

 

I am all for sharing – and so is Chester White. So we then ordered the Salmon Carpaccio, “Annalise Cauliflower” and Truffled Cacio E Pepe to share between the two of us.

Their pasta needs special mention.

Spaghetti, olive oil and pepper is mixed in a wheel of cheese so the flakes of mouth watering truffle parmesan are scraped off the sides as it’s mixed…. leaving you in total foodie heaven!

 

 

This small, simple, casual and cozy eatery instantly became a favourite of mine.
