A Staycation At Chateau Elan

I’ve perviously dubbed this year the of the road trips and with that in mind, a trip up to the Hunter Valley is a must. It’s only a short two-hour drive from Sydney but if you have the time, I suggest taking Route 33. It’s just off the highway and has countless hidden gems to check out on the way up. You’ll past through country towns that are worth stopping off at and a number of cafes and even restaurants at the finer end of dining.

I am a frequent visitor to the Hunter, and I know a convenient and a satisfying staycation in the Hunter Valley comes down to the location of your accommodation. With this in mind, I stayed at Chateau Elan The Vintage Golf Course in Pokolbin (A.k.a the centre of the Hunter Valley).

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment at Chateau Elan, it was fitted out with a full kitchen, fireplace and spa overlooking the lush green golf course. When it comes to convenience, breakfast is only a short and enjoyable walk across the picturesque gold course. Set overlooking the 18th green, we knew we were in for a treat. The nailed it, a restaurant that does a good smashed avocado is a big thumbs up from me.

Wine tasting in the Hunter Valley is fun but sometimes exhausting, you’d be happy to know that Legends & Bar Grill is equally convenient and just as mouth-watering to settle into of a evening. We enjoyed a two set menu with a bottle of local wine. When it comes to the menu, order the stuff Portobello Mushrooms and the Roasted Chicken – you won’t be disappointed.

The Spa at Chateau Elan needs a special mention too, it’s newly renovated and the perfect way to relax after a hard day of wine tasting! I was treated to a 60-minute relaxation massage, which was so relaxing I fell asleep right at the end. Continue to unwind at the spa with a glass of bubbles too.

When it comes to making a booking for your stay in the Hunter Valley, I’d suggest booking via Trip, they’re a one-stop-shop when its come to booking your next staycation. With countless experiences too, you can arrange it all in one booking process. Be sure to do this advance to your travel date, as the Hunter books out quite quickly.
